Ron Darling says it's one of the longest home run trots he has ever seen. Ron Darling started Game 7 in the 86 World Series when in the eighth inning Darryl Strawberry took his sweet time circling the bases after Al Nipper threw him a meatball and Darryl sent it bye bye.

The reaction of fans says it all. Fans at the ballpark! Miss it terribly. Real crowds not sparse crowds as in certain stadiums this past year. Pandemic has ruined just about everything in everyday lives. But the memories never go away and what a memory. " Big Sexy" hits home run. Just awesome. He has credentials as a pitcher to one day get into Hall of Fame mainly because of longevity in sport. He probably wont get voted in by writers to get in but if he did this home run should be a capper on his solid career. A great character also. Baseball and all sports needs more of them.

Morgan Freeman: After that afternoon, James Shields went home and tried to sleep off the event like it had all been a bad dream. When he walked up stairs and to his bedroom, he found the mailman in bed with his wife. The mailman didn’t flinch, staring right at James, smoking a cigar while his arm was around this recently satisfied lady who’s head was comfortably resting on his chest. “Ssshhh. She’s still sleeping,” he said. “Now ‘Big Game James,’ please quietly shut the door on the way out.” James nodded and headed down stairs.

No doubt that Appling was juicing to be able to hit a home run like this at 75 years old. He was juicing fruits and vegetables in a blender.

I love that MLB uploaded this on the day of RFK Stadium's farewell. Sure the Nationals can't get it done in the NLDS (yet) but with a World Series title, two additional pennants, several All Star Games hosted, Hall of Famers, and a founding AL East team ('69 Senators) DC has a lot of great baseball history. And this great moment is part of that.

Miss Mellie

I can STILL remember watching that on TV when it happened.

i couldn’t imagine a better feeling than getting a high five from an umpire while rounding the bases on a home run off of an amazing pitcher at age 75...?

Is the MLB player Hunter Morris the son of Jim' Morris?

im looking for his debut that day he pitched were is the video

No duh

Ale X

It’s just crazy that these kids would soon be in a popular movie about Jim. It must be a crazy life being the players.

Nick Jasper

At this day and age, there's no clip of the actual MLB debut appearance?

steve Fowler

I never knew this was a true story...I always loved the movie...what a great story.

james scott

Great true story !

Tyler Houston

Not bashing Morris love the story and the movie however does anyone else find it fishy he was throwing in the mid to high 80's at 25 when he retired but when he's 36 he was throwing 96. I don't want to take anything away from the guy but most pitcher's velocity would drop even lower by  that age not rise I come to one conclusion this was around the steroid era of mlb so......

Tyler H.

The Rookie is definitely one of my all-time favorites
