Squatting and hinging patterns are unavoidable in daily life. The Barbell back squat and Barbell deadlift are simply 2 expressions of this movement. There are many different variations of these exercises that can be applied to almost any knee or back pain patient.
By avoiding these movements, you drastically increase your risk of future injury because when you inevitably get into a scenario where you need to pick something up off the ground, or sit down into a chair, you'll be unable to load the proper tissues and further stress your injury sites.
The movement patterns of the squat and hinge must be reintroduced as quickly as possible!
I’ve been to a physical therapist after tearing my acl (soccer) who basically told me that “knees going past your toes being bad for you” is a thing of the past, and that i should stop trying to no stop my knee going past my toes. You seem knowledgeable so I genuinely have no idea who to believe.... yikes.
This is great. Lots and lots of exercises depend on subtle, precise movements.

I'm so very tired of some of these robot doctors and specialists advising us to give up because we're aging, we're injured, it runs in the family or whatever tf they learn in those state governed cult sessions before their licenses are issued. If listened to them I would have given up on myself a long time ago. I've had so many injuries and fully recovered. Now I'm working on my knees to make skating easier.

In this video I will show you how to squat with bad knees or even bad hips. Having knee pain while you are squatting is uncomfortable and can lead to even more injury of the soft tissues. My video goes over how you can modify the squat to alleviate some of that knee pain or hip pain you have been experiencing while trying to exercise.
The movements are very basic and will help you overcome fear of squatting. Just because you have knee pain does not mean you have to stop exercising. It is no you , it is the lack of knowledge.
