Shit taste nasty if you don't drink while its cold

Joshua Frost

The grocery shopping sounds excellent as your food keeps health and macros in mind. I'd say workouts, but there's already a ton of that on other fitness youtube channels, so something that would make you niche - so to speak. As for cooking videos, do go into the more savory stuff, the meats and whole meals. Perhaps personal videos - it's solely up to you, on why you started this lifestyle, how it's wholly affected you and those around, your tattoos, I for one would be genuinely interested.

The Protein Chef

Thanks Dominic! Appreciate the kind words. I've been thinking about doing something like that for most of my recipes (with the less common ingredients). We'll see if I can eventually factor it in!

the 1 cup of pure pumpkin was a little strong for me. I used a half of a cup instead on the fourth time I made it as I tried to perfect it. A half a cup was really good.

Just commenting to say that I love the videos you post. Can't wait to try this as well as the cauliflower pizza tomorrow.

Abraham Contreras

I guess the X-Files didn’t pan out

Just tried this man, once again you always come through! This was an awesome shake! I try to advertise your videos on the website Fitocracy all the time (if you haven't checked it out it is an AWESOME website for fitness) hoping that you get more views man, you deserve it!

The Protein Chef

Thank you! Definitely more pumpkin stuff. Love it too!

The Protein Chef

Haha! I definitely wouldn't mind trying it though

Andy Keller

Hey! I'm having a mild allergic reaction to the protein powder I bought. (Never have been allergic to anything in my life.) Which powder do you recommend?

Devon Labuda

This was the first time I tried one of your recipes and I really liked it. I'll keep watching and making these, your amazing.

Joshua Frost

I really admire your videos and actually try out 3-4 recipes per weekend. I'm still holding my thoughts on the speed up music, I'm not sure if it's me but I find it really cheesy and lowers the 'quality' of the video - as in it bothers me that much to post about it. Once again, great video - have you perhaps thought of doing other non-cooking videos?

The Protein Chef

Hi Joshua! I really appreciate your feedback. This video and the others I have edited so far I've cut the fast forward music in half and only put it on the clips that are over 1.5 seconds long so there is definitely less of it. Let me know if it helps at all. If you could offer any other suggestion for the silence I'd be open to it as well. I bought a smaller camera to do some fitness stuff/thoughts on the day/grocery shopping so that stuff is coming soon. What else were you thinking?

thanks. awesome videos btw

I've been researching protein shakes for an upcoming bariatric surgery. Your shake ideas look great and I can't wait to incorporate these recipes into my weight loss and I look forward to trying them and sharing them with my brother-in-law who is having his surgery close to the same time. :)

The Protein Chef

Thanks my friend. Hope you enjoy both. Let me know! :)

The Protein Chef

Did the ice melt or something? Definitely don't want to let it get watered down. What type of protein did ya use?

The Protein Chef

What brand if you don't mind me asking? I like Healthy N Fit (I link it in my description) but I also like Vitacost brand whey (sweetened with stevia), Optimum Nutrition is great, BSN stuff, and a few others. If you have a preference (flavor/vegan/type of protein) I could point you in a better direction. Let me know!

Matt fellow

Wow make try just for the fiber hahah

The Protein Chef

Awesome suggestions! Will definitely incorporate some of these ideas in the near future (wish I had a recipe for more time but we'll get there!). Thanks Joshua

You god of a man!

Joshua Frost

When I mean meals, I don't mean 'basic' cooking - like proper well thought out dishes, healthy takes on say a bean mix, tacos, cheese etc - or theme'd healthy foods; japan, chinese, mexican, italian, the list goes on. (playlist galore!) I do want you to grow as a channel, the stuff you make really does make me wanna bake and try it out. Though it seems the variety has died down a little. :) I also appreciate you answering individuals and don't take my 'feedback' as negative, just my 2 cents!

The Protein Chef

That stuff has a ton of fiber too! Thanks as always

The Protein Chef

Hahaha, no homer...thanks!

YT Hauss

Thanks This shake is really good

You should really change where you're pointing at when you ask us to subscribe lol it's actually on YOUR bottom right, just below the facebook and instagram watermark on your videos. Good video again!

The Protein Chef

Less oats OR more apple sauce would work! Chocolate chips is preference (won't really help anything)

He is a God amongst men. Let's worship Derek Howes.

hey i tried your cake bar recipe and the brownies came out a bit tough. should i use half a cup of oats and add in more chocolate chips?

Great video man, the best way to get your daily fiber in my opinion is Fiber One cereal! Good stuff lol

I'm looking forward to the shake series because I've only had (flavor) success with one whey shake myself.

The Protein Chef

Hey porkfat! I put the blender I recommend in the description. For the price ($60 shipped) you won't beat the quality. 600 watts too!

OMG, I love u so much! I am in LOVE with pumpkin pie so I can not wait to make this! Thank u SOOOOO much! Yay!

The Protein Chef

Thanks my friend!

The Protein Chef

Awesome! I'm glad I put this up then. Will continue to put up shakes throughout the week. Thanks

Coleman Trebor

Great videos! All of the recipes I've tried worked great, keep it up!

The Protein Chef

Thanks Ervin! I'm actually talking about the ending screen on my videos. Maybe I should point in both directions? Haha! Thanks for the comment. I've had a lot of people ask me for protein shake recipes and although they are fairly common they only take me a few hours to make (with editing) so I figured it couldn't hurt to make a protein shake playlist on here since they are short videos anyways! I'll put at least one of these up a week a long with my other recipes.

This looks bomb! Is it good for weight loss or mainly just to get bigger? "Ripped"

The Protein Chef

Haha! #ProteinNation!

Dominic Pollere

Honestly, you're protein shake videos are awesome and pretty much a life saver. Even though I always substitute the almond milk for regular or nonfat milk. Maybe you should post the nutrient facts without the milk in it, just because most people probably do substitute it for something else. I know it'd be helpful for me, but it's just an idea. Either way, pleasee keep the videos coming!

As always very delicous... Keep up that goog work

Your ink looks sick, two sleeved?

The Protein Chef

I've heard about Fitocracy but haven't really looked into it, I'll definitely check it out. You have no idea how much I appreciate you doing that. Thank you so much!

Hey dhfns i think the protien cake is still the best im going to try this. Though i found a great recipe you can make a video on. All you do is make the cake but only cook it so its cooked 3/4 of the way then what u do is u take a spoon and mash the cake real well . then make some instant sugar free chocolate . Layer it so its pudding then the cake then more pudding add some whip cream on top and omg is it good. and the pudding is real low on calories so its still healthy.

The Protein Chef

Awesome :)...Thank you Devon. Glad you liked it

Perfect time! must try!!! :D

The Protein Chef

Love that and love the Fall!

Matt fellow

lol the ice was blended up like your video and it tasted fine cool maybe it was just me but i had to dump 1/3 of it down cuz it got to [room temp] like and i used MTS MACHINE WHEY

Matthew Dempsky

My absolute favorite thing about Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie. It's blowing my mind to realize this shake recipe is super easy to make, tastes just like the real thing, can be made year round, and is actually healthy for me. I'm going to need to stock up on canned pumpkin.

mirin facial aesthetics (no homer)

The Protein Chef

Thanks Zeroc!

Mother of Zeus. This recipe kills it. Please promise me more pumpkin recipes are coming this fall. I can't get enough pumpkin anytime of the year. I literally have to leave my house so I don't keep making these.

trying this on Saturday! I'm gonna be making my own pie crust with graham crackers, stevia, unsweetened apple sauce & cinnamon, just to cut out some calories. Would you recommend baking the crust first then apply filling or should I refrigerate crust, add filling then bake?

Jessica Cobb

Is it better fresh or should I start slaving in the kitchen now?

Awesome low calorie recipe! Loved it I'm on a constant pumpkin kick lol

The Protein Chef

Ohhh! That sounds delicious. I'll have to try mine with some dry cereal next time.

Jorge Fruit

Thanks for sharing Derek!! I’ll definitely be eating the whole pie :) (before I make a next batch to share)

Heidi Hansen

yes! I love pumpkin and I am dropping down weight classes in powerlifting, so I hate that I see all this delicious pumpkin stuff I can't eat. Thank you!!

Wow, that looks delish! I make a pumpkin protein bar that has the consistency of a cake, but I need to try this for sure. Thanks for the recipe!

Those are great macros wow

This looks really good! Considering this is my favorite pie and it's my birthday today, I think I know what I will make instead of a cake! thanks for the recipe! :)

The Protein Chef

Gotta love the bacon!

The Protein Chef

Love that!

Harry Detsis

MAN thank you SO MUCH for these videos.

The Protein Chef

Noooooooooooooooo...oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! At least there's a bazillion other good toppings!

canned pumpkin should be thicker than applesauce... just get yourself a pumpkin, cut in half, roast in your oven (little water added to a pan in which you place the two halves) you should be able to scoop out the pumpkin off the peel ... then add a little cinnamon, nutmeg, clove (=pumpkin spices) and you're good to go :-) I am from germany too - i know your prob! check out the international sections at the stores! At least we have Quark -they don't ;-)

The Protein Chef

Eeeh, both I guess

For anyone wondering, I made this with ON Double Rich Chocolate whey and it turned out great. Also, to make it a bit healthier I skipped the pie crust, but added some dry cereal to the top while baking to add some crunch.

Is it me or do you look like CM Punk from WWE

The Protein Chef

Thank you. I have a huge sweet tooth too but you've probably figured that out by now!

Nate Hamon

I like it - will try. However, we don't get our pumpkin out of cans in Australia so is that pre-cooked? I assume it is but you know what assumptions can make of us:)

The Protein Chef

I haven't tried it with chocolate protein so I can't give you feedback on that but it may still come out good!

happy birthday. I think I'll be making this one today too. enjoi.

The Protein Chef

Absolutely my friend. You can definitely eat all of my recipes daily and lose weight (well not all of them in the same day), especially if you need to kill a sweet tooth! Thanks for the kind words.

The Protein Chef

You can but you will need to cook it a bit! I wish I could help ya find some. I should do a giveaway with a ton of random products that are hard to find outside the USA! Thank you

i hate bacon^^

Tropical 868

Made it and it came out superb! I ended up buying the same crust that you used in the recipe. Tastes good by itself, even better with whipped cream! You definitely have the best protein recipes on youtube!

Tropical 868

As always keep up the great work, and thank you for these amazing recipes!

The Protein Chef

Thank you! It's slowly in the works...I have a lot of plans for it! :)

When you speed up the video and add the music it makes me laugh so much idk why

The Protein Chef

Thanks Harry!

Jess Petrie

Could you use Greek yogurt instead of the cottage cheese? I'd also like to try it with the cinnamon protein powder I have instead of vanilla.

The Protein Chef

Yes, you can substitute these for normal meals. There will be days I'll eat a cheesecake instead of a regular "meal". Never had any issues in losing weight. Just make sure you don't overeat and of course train hard! Definitely about promoting a health great tasting life style more than anything.

Great video as usual man. It looks sooo gooood that it makes me wet •_• ...my mouth that is :)

I made this recipe tonight. I did not use a crust, and it came out great. I'll be honest, I've had better pumpkin pies, but this pie is very enjoyable and doesn't destroy my daily carb budget. I will make it again and share some for the holidays.

Will do thank you.

Germany. I'm kind of jealous of you Americans cause all your food seems to cost pennies and there is a bigger variety all in all (and there seems to be a low-fat no-sugar variant of just about anything out there). I actually don't eat pie all that much but wanted to try some with these healthy recipes. I gather that the canned pumpkin is basically just "meat" to hold the pie together, right? then apple sauce and some fiber should do the same trick, am I correct?

The Protein Chef

Will do! I just got some more chocolate in so they'll definitely be more soon. Thank you!

Cohn Wolfe

MUST try this one. Of course I watch this when I only have egg whites on hand and not whole eggs lol

The Protein Chef

Awesome to hear! Thanks for the wonderful comment

The Protein Chef

I would bake the crust first - this is called "blind baking"!

Stan Oosterbosch

As someone who is quite fond of Pumpkins I'd like to thank you. I am totally gonna try this tomorrow :D

Kulin Krishnan

Can you use egg whites instead of eggs?

Sam L

will that pie crust work for your pumpkin cheesecake recipe?

The Protein Chef

Hahahaha! Thank you

The Protein Chef

Not quite sure on the graham cracker crust until I buy another one however the pie dish is just your standard 9'' one! Hope this helps

The Protein Chef

I've made one before but haven't recently - if I keep this pumpkin kick up you'll definitely see my variation sooner than later, haha!

William Baggett

Thats an assload of Stevia

I made this recipe last week, n to say the least it's all gone lol One question since it's thanksgiving here in Canada this weekend really want a pumpkin pie cheesecake. If I use this recipe but add two 8ounce cream cheese tubs, will it work?

Robert Kolakowski

Yuck! Bacon! No disrespect!!!

Maharet Raider

very nice. eating all this meat on the zone diet is getting a little hard. having a difficult time holding it down. i get the feeling i'll get some good tips from you. thanks! (and maybe i can get my husband on board. i'll entice him with yummy pie and bacon bits!

Mike Lantowski

I have made several of these already and love them as a tasty snack and extra source of protein.  I actually use a "pumpkin" protein which adds to the flavor and when I do use the pumpkin protein, I can skip adding some of the extra ingredients.

The Protein Chef

Thank you Scott! One of the main reasons I started making these recipes was to prevent me from overeating. I know exactly how you feel and can't tell ya how glad I am to hear these recipes have helped you too.

The Protein Chef

Always great to hear others sharing healthy food and then others enjoying it! Did you make him another one?

i just made this and it's fucking awesome.

Just subscribed to your channel and I'm definitely gonna add some of your recipes to my arsenal! Gotta do more vids with chocolate protein though. Otherwise, keep up the awesome work.

The Protein Chef

The suggested dish or the graham cracker crust?

The Protein Chef

It's delicious, so I completely understand. Thank you EF!

Derek, it seems that I can only find pumpkin soup for whatever reason (consists of only 22% pumpkin). What do think could I substitute for the pumpkin? Greek yoghurt? Cottage cheese? Something else?

We Are Limitless

Eat the pie crust. Live a little. #AnotherOne

Neither here nor there, but the bowl you had your bacon in is not a bowl.  It's the bottom half of a honeycomb pattern candle holder, a "fairy light". The top half would have had a round hole in the middle (to vent the candle) and it probably came with a metal wire tripod to rest in.

I'm a veracious overeater, I've eaten 2 XL pizzas and a tub of Ben&Jerrys and still wanted more :'( This is perfect as I can easy eat it all and not go over my macros :D

The Protein Chef

I would actually go over to my cheesecake recipe and modify that with some pumpkin/spices in it before anything else. I plan on doing this but not until next week, sorry my friend! Happy Thanksgiving though!

Dr Gonzo

can i use the same amount of natural grind pumpkin? because i think we havnn´t that kind of stuff in our super market. (pure pumpkin) Or maybe i take a detailed look to my local super market. Greetings from austria, go ahead :-)

My good lord that looks fantastic Derek. Mmm bacon. Omg yum. Delicious recipe.

The Protein Chef

Interesting! Definitely let me know

The Protein Chef

Wonderful to hear as always. Thanks Desmond! Glad it was a hit.

The Protein Chef

Happy Birthday! How'd it turn out?

Sara Ettl

I am trying this recipe...and subscribing.  I really can't get enough of a man in an apron in the kitchen (muscles are BONUS!)  :-)

Love Your Videos !!! When is Your Recipe Book coming out??? : )

The Protein Chef

More so than anything else to promote that you can still eat great tasting food and lose weight/stay healthy!

The Protein Chef

Let me know how it turns out! :)

Have you considered making a pumpkin cheesecake? Substituting half the greek yogurt with some pumpkin? Might try this.

star venus

really special Amigo looks like a really huge stuffed bear...hahaha. thx a lot.

The Protein Chef

Haha! Bodybuilding problems! Let me know how it turns out. I gotta try your recipe too! Will come in handy when I get a bit more into my cut and want some volume.

Amy Edwards

just made this and OH GOD. it's so damn good. Thank you :)

im so obsessed with pumpkin everything, pumpkin pie is definitely my favorite. thank you so much for this recipe!

Shelbye Omondi

I made this and LOVED IT. I shared with my parents. This weekend, my dad mowed my yard and when i offered to pay him, he said 'can you make me one of those pies.' Lol....AWESOME AWESOME pie!!

I love pumpkin and enjoyed this recipe a lot! In fact my family ate half of it unaware of how full of protein it was

Maui Benzino

Looks yummy .. Love pumpkin pie!

What would you recommend substituting for cottage cheese (lactose problems)

The Protein Chef

Thanks for liking it! :)

The Protein Chef

Love the bacon! Thanks as always!

Claire Rodriguez

Old video coming through to my rescue! Batter is in the oven now!

The Protein Chef

Hi Nate! Yes, canned pumpkin is cooked during the canning process. :)

The Protein Chef

I'll do some giveaways eventually where I'll throw some cooking packs together! In theory that should work but then you have to factor in the cooking differences so times will be a bit off/may not create the right texture. You could use sweet potato puree or make your own assuming you have sweet potatoes. However I do have a sweet potato pie recipe up as well but if you want to use this one instead you could!

Jacklynn Roskey

I finally tried your recipe! I didn't have cloves, but it turned out fantastic! I will be making this at Thanksgiving. Thanks ?

'Twas awesome! Thanks a bunch! :)

The Protein Chef

Hi John! Where do you live my dude? What other types of pie do you like? I'll throw something together for you!

Kevin B

Just a quick question for anyone watching, if you dont have a food processor or blender can you use an electric hand mixer and get the same consistency and overall same product at the end?  Much love man I subscribed earlier today, and i cant wait to be finished cutting so I can try all this out!  Going to Wal-mart to buy me LOAD OF INGREDIENTS!

The Protein Chef

J Templar

what made you start making videos? all of them look so good

Jon Flynn

Totally going to try this and I will definitely add the bacon...I'll take your word on how unexplainably good it is.

How big is the cooking container in size/volume?

The Protein Chef

Thanks Jeff! Giving them samples is awesome - I wish I could do this for everyone. You sound like a great trainer so keep it up!

The Protein Chef

Thanks Desmond!

The Protein Chef

Love that!
