how do you properly clean a tire dressing applicator?

So which tire dressing is best for keeping the tires in best condition without drying out cracking or wearing it down, seems like most dressings will ruin the tires over time looking for something safe

I have used vrp and meguiars I live in Canada and we can get a lot of rain so I like meguiars more vrp will wash off but I use in on my interior and it works great

I have no idea why YouTube detailers push chemical guys vrp or silk shine, for me on any exterior or interior plastics or rubber evaporate straight away or within a few days or run with the smallest rain drop

Great video as always Pan!!!! Before watching and subscribing to you channel I use to use the Maquires and had the same issues. I stumbled upon Chemical Guys stuff and have been using the VRP on tires and trim. And like use explained very easy to use, great outcome, when it doesn’t rain it’ll last a while. It’ll make it through one light rain but not much after that. But cheap and does the job great! Thanks again for the video!

Some people said "silicone are bad for tires, it could crack the rubber". Is it true? Because on last 4 month i used dressing from smartdressing with contains of 30% silicone

When you immediately drive after polishing tires the polish flies off. I found it better to polish your tires when you have no plans of driving anywhere. The car being parked for a while will allow the polish to set into the tire and have no run off.

there was a turtle wax tire shine that was latex based, no oily feel lasts up to 6 months, they took it off the market that was an amazing product. i just bought a similar product called soft99 black black its a Japanese product cant wait to make my tires shine!!

Ive used VRP for a long while now, but I’ve heard bad things about due to when it rains it’ll smear and come off. Would that be because the surface wasn’t prepped properly?

Best Tire shine hands down is by Car brite. I don’t care for many of their products as its meant for dealership and bulk but they have a purple gel style tire shine smells like grapes. And is German made product. Hands down the best and is water based does not sling and stays on for weeks. I use my mini hvlp gun to spray on.

I've read reviews about the vrp coming off in the rain and not lasting or it slinging. Are they just putting on to much or not preparing the tires correctly?

Can solvent or petroleum based dressings damage the tire side wall over time?
I feel like they speed up dry rotting.. but I'm not sure. I use black magic tire shine and it lasts well over 3 weeks which is great

Hello PAN, I love your channel! I am a weekend warrior who likes to spend at least 3 to 4 days a week making my cars shine.
I also watch many youtube videos and follow the advice and recommendations of various channels including yours. That is why I would like to ask you for an advice.
I love the shiny, wet look of my tires, that's why I use this excellent product called TriNova Tire Shine Spray without wiping just a couple of sprays all over the tire and I get a lot of compliments. However, I there is always sling residue on my paint and that drives me crazy. Is there a product that meets my needs that is equal to or greater than Tri Nova and does not leave that residue in the paint? Thank You...!

I love chemical guys VRP do you have any tips on applying VRP on meaty tires? Traditional foam applicators get really torn up after 1 use.

I just used vrp for the first time and last time yesterday for the tires and some black trim, what a waste of time. I usually use Meguiar’s endurance and that product has never failed me for years. VRP is a terrible product! I put the VRP on very clean tires and trim, and it looked amazing! When I woke up today the tires and trim looked dry like nothing was ever applied. Great product if you only want 10 hours of protection and a great look. Thankfully it wasn’t a customers car, because they would be calling me back this morning??‍♂️! I would rather have sling than drying issues. in my experience water based products are terrible, this one no exception. I have noticed that most retail products are much better than than the professional overpriced junk that these companies are trying to sell. Stick with retail products like Meguiar’s! Just put it in a different unmarked bottle if your a professional detailer.

Johnny Wooten tire shine is the best u can get a gallon of it and it looks like milk but it doesn’t sling at all because it’s a water base

Please test Dura Dressing. It appears to me based on my research that it is the best product on the market for durability and no sling.

Love your content I am looking for a tire dressing that won’t effect my satin finished wheels. I have a 2020 Honda SI that the dealer put tire shine on and it created shinny streaks all over them. They have since replaced my wheels. So any advise you could give would be awesome!

Try black leather shoes polish you need to let dry over night be for driving your car or truck.
Will last for one month even in bad weather.

I'm trying to decide between Gyeon Tire and Carpro Perl, just for tyre dressing. What are your thoughts? I won't dilute, I like to simply spray onto a sponge and apply to the tyre. Or if there is something better which you can use neat and as a spray?

Don't the sprays have a tendency to get on the rotors?

What method do you recommend for aggressive tires like a 35 nitro ridge grappler? There are a lot of mugs on the side and they destroy my sponge pads.

Great comparison video Pan. I already have the Auto Finesse tyre creme and the Gyeon Tire. I think I'll buy the Chemical Guys VRP and give that a try.

All Chemical Guys products are retail level. I used the Chemical Guys VRP, not durable at all. One rain and the shine is all gone. But that is easy to apply, unlike using tire coatings where I need to make sure the tires are super clean before application, and I have to throw away the applicators or microfiber cloths used for the application. But I still prefer the tire coatings such as optimum tire coating. many months of shine. I don't scrub the tires after applying the coating, just spray some Meguiar's Gold Class car shampoo on it during every week's car wash and the shine remain for months. One bottle of tire coating could last the entire lifespan of the car. Chemical Guys products simply don't last regardless of how much prep work I do. So they are more expensive in the long run.

Not relevant to the video but can you please make a TurtleWax Seal N Shine vs The Last Coat V2 in the future? Some of us would really like to see that comparison.

Silk Shine is not for tires, a better choice to compare would be the VRP from Chemical Guys ?

I just bought some silk & shine as they recommended it for a satin finish. Not sure I like how just a ph neutral wash took it off. I have Goodyear Duratracs on my truck and they are a pain to dress. Looking for something that will last at least a few washes when I’m not off road with it.

I don't think silk shine is for tires. I know it's definitely for interiors, but knowing chemical guys, they probably have a dedicated tire product.

Could it be that you you sprayed on the CG Silk Shine and when it dried you get that browning from too much of product. Strange that it got that much worse after the Silk Shine. Had been better to not dress the tire at all LOL. Kind of liked the looks from the Car Guys Tire Shine. I like the look as new rubber and Tac System Tire Coat is a product I get that from and also a decent longevity from it with a month or 2. Tuf Shine Tire Coating seems to be very impresive when it comes to the long lasting tire coatings.

Jimbo silk shine is awesome You can spray directly to the tire let it dry for about 30 minutes then use a soft bristle brush to shine it’s impressive and don’t sling at all Use the same brush and spread evenly the next day and the day after and the day after it’ll last for a week

Based on this video, both are pretty lousy.

For the touchure test on tire shine I think you should do, water, then snow foam, then iron remover, then a basic wheel/rim cleaner, then purple power then if the tire shine is still alive use something till the tire is flat and stop when the tire is flat.

Patented additive is "Polycharger". ;)

Car guys is what I've I've been using and love it. Now I'm trying meguiar's endurance tire gel you should do a torture test on that.

Car Guys is water based. I found this comparison very telling. I don't want to have to scrub my tires weekly and apply the tire shine more than weekly, once after the wash and once after most any chemical touches the tires. Car Guys wears off slower and much, much more gracefully.

You should have done a 2 for.. Followed up that Adam's rubber and tire with super clean. The Adam's is ok for a maintenance but super clean is better. You might have seen some more browning. Just saying. Not saying you did anything at all wrong. Not keyboard warrioring you either. I just find that Adam's product to be meh.

Idk about the Amazon brand, but I know silk shine is water based and washes away completely after just one wash or rain storm....for that reason I always liked using silk shine for my tires

Before you washed it u should of rubbed your fingers across it's to tell us if one feels oily or not or if it feels like build up or to thick

Yea big difference. So easier to remove but after driving in a rain your tires look disgusting until you redo them. Would rather use no shine at all.

Jimbo I don’t think it’s fair with the chemical guys when you sprayed on the products, in the bottle obviously says that that’s not the way to apply the silk n shine. And chemical guys silk n shine It’s dedicated for interiors because they have the VRP that is dedicated for Tires and plastics

I have been using the Black Magic tire shine in a can from Advanced Auto for a year. I try and get overspray off wheel. My Lexus Hyper Silver wheels are fading the clearcoat and silver overcoat on the wheels now.
One is 3 months old because it was cracked and replaced. It started fading within a few months. I blame the tire shine. What else would cause this?

What advice would you give to those looking to have their own detailing garage?

I love chemical guy silk shine on the tires and exterior trim of my wifes equinox. Little bit gos a long way. I applied to car 6 times and still have half a bottle half.

Definitely would of preferred you to use chemical guys VRP or their tire and trim gel. Would of been a much better comparison. Silk shine is much better suited for interior trim then anything on the exterior. Most like using it on tires because of the moderate shine that's all. But they don't really market it as a tire shine since they have other products dedicated for tires. Tire and trim gel by Chem guys definitely lasts a lot longer being silicone based compared to the water based VRP , but it will give you much more tire sling vs the vrp.

Tire was made September 2018 had to do a lot of zooming in and out to find the date Haha but it's basically a new tire
